MINI MAISON'S CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE - PART TWO

Welcome to Part Two of my Christmas Gift guide for Mamas and Minis. Part one was all about getting the littles looking just right and getting them reading exciting stories.

In this part I'm discussing toys and bits for you and your mama friends.

TOYS

Play Hooray

I’ve recently discovered a product that I know I love, without it even arriving yet! Started by Claire Russell, a Mum and early years’ specialist, Play Hooray offers a selection of ideas for your little ones, from a Messy Play Kit to a Christmas Calendar to get your minis feeling festive. But my fav, and one I’ve ordered for my boys for Christmas, is the Play Prompts pack. It’s a little tin containing 100 cards with ideas for activities, they come in a few different options (there’s one especially for babies), and it helps us parents find different and creative things for our children to do, often without spending any money, using just our imaginations and these wonderful cards. They may be simple ideas, such as creating a coloured water station, but I love the idea of pulling one out of the tin and doing it that day with my children.

Mini Maison

Now I’m obviously not going to write a gift idea blog post without including some of Mini Maison's must-haves. Nursery décor doesn’t just have to be about bedding and pictures, we stock some awesome products that any little one would be happy to receive on Christmas morning. We’ve got a few ultimate gifts, starting with our bestselling Jersey Ball Pits. They’re so popular and with a cut-off date of around the end of November / start of December you need to be ordering them NOW. They come in round or square and in a selection of colours, plus you can pick the ball colours that you want them to come with. If you love your living room to vaguely resemble an adult space rather than a play room, then this is the product for you.

We are also mega-proud stockists of Wildfire Teepees, the coolest kids brand in town - the collection started off with the black and white teepees and now includes a range of monochrome prints as well as with coordinating accessories including bean bags, playmats and storage bags. All of which you can buy from Mini Maison.

These hideouts are for boys and girls and will look great in playrooms, bedrooms or living spaces.

If you're looking for inspiration of the smaller kind, both in terms of size and price, then Mini Maison has recently become a stockist of uber-cool US brand, Wee Gallery

The range is mostly monochrome, which is fab because baby’s can only see black and white for a while, and is designed to help your baby develop. The Wild set of Play Blocks feature illustrations and letters... perfect for building up and knocking down. Wee Galley's organic sensory ball has been specifically designed to include different textures, contrasts, taggies and the rattle inside will delight your little one. The soft book, also pictured above, is so cute and definitely deserves its 'soft' title. With a selection of animal pictures this will delight any babe. There's more to the collection so head to the shop section of the site for a full nosey.

If it’s beautiful illustrations that you’re after, then our collection by The Fox in the Attic will have you hooked, with rattles and soft cushions these make such a beautiful addition to your baby’s nursery. Head over quick though as stocks are limited and selling fast from this fab brand.

Our personalised products are creeping up our bestsellers list and we’re incredibly proud to be able to offer our customers something different to other retailers. Our personalised name signs are available in neon-style or in the wood colour of your choice and make for wonderful baby gifts. Alternatively treat yourself or another "grown up", because really these look fab in any room.

Neon Name Sign

We've got more neon lights arriving in clouds, hearts, lightning bolts and 'love' in the next week, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.

If you’re not sure where to start them head over to the shop now and search the Christmas category for our selection.

Cottage Toys

Cottage Toys are soooo Instagram worthy. Beautiful wooden pieces, timeless designs and fun to play with… all in one hit. For the scandi lover in you, there’s a bamboo toy kitchen that I've earmarked, in plain bamboo with matching cooking utensils. This definitely fits the bill of kids’ toys not looking out of place in your living area. I’ve yet to find a child that doesn’t love playing with in a toy kitchen and appearing in front of you with a ‘cup of tea’ or ‘slice of cake’ for you to eat... too cute. This kitchen is priced at £102.

So that's my round-up of toys that I hope has shown you some brands and toys that you may not have heard of before, or bought from before.

MAMA MUST-HAVES

We’ve saved the best for last… gifts for your friends and female family members, or to add to your Christmas list.
This was the hardest collection to whittle down because there are so many brands I just love love love. I've tried my best to give you the very best selection.
This little collection is all about mama and products that you will love for a long time to come.

Freddie's Flowers

Hands up if you love fresh flowers! Well I do, they brighten my day and I think that if you've got a friend or family member that feels this way then there is no better present than a flower subscription box. Freddie's Flowers delivers a box a week (or less if you prefer) for £20 per box. Flowers are delivered in the most beautiful box and are wrapped so perfectly I always try and take a snap before I put them in a vase. They're seasonal and really easy to arrange, with step by step instructions.

Essex Mama

Essex Mama, AKA the lovely Liz, created a simple tee earlier in the year with the phrase Girl Gang on. Suddenly she was inundated with requests from other cool mamas for their very own slice of the Girl Gang action. Essex Mama has launched this season’s collection, just in time for Christmas. And to be honest, I want it all. And there’s stuff for your mini’s too. And it can be personalised - yay! I’ve narrowed it down to a grey varsity sweatshirt (my boys have one each of the tees already) and a Stronger Together Notebook for my list but you should defo check out the website for your own wishlist.

Bo and Bel

This is a sneaky one, because Bo and Bel is one for you AND your babe. A range of teething necklaces and bracelets made from high quality, safety tested silicone. This is a god-send if you’ve got a teething bubba, because we all know that teething makes them GRUMPY. Giving them something safe to chew on and they’ll be much happier and much less whingy... we hope!
My fav HAS to be the Joanna in all its pastel and geometric glory but the collection is wonderful and really varied, so there will definitely be something on there for you. And the beauty is, they look GOOD and not at all like they should be used for teething, so you're happy to wear them even when your baby isn't teething!

Selfish Mother

Of course, a list of must-haves for Mamas wouldn't be complete without mentioning Selfish Mother. Not only is it a great platform for mother's voices but they sell the coolest jumpers and tees in the land, with their Good Tees collection. With over £200,000 donated to charities (calculated at July 2016)... that's £10 per adult product. How amazing is that?!

Selfish Mother have collborated with Poppy Delevingne for a Christmas collection for Save The Children, designed by Cheryl Rawlings. And this is our top pick of the bunch:

Perfect for cooking and / or eating Christmas lunch in. And if you're buying for yourself, make sure yours arrives before Christmas Jumper Day on 16th December!

Mumma's Health Hub

This is a great gift from you to you. If you're a mum and you're feeling lethargic or you have great plans for new year fitness regimes, then you absolutely need a pack of hacks. The lovely Jemma at Mumma's Health Hub has created 21 cards that show moves, hints, tips and sequences for fitness. The Pack of Hacks was created to help Mamas fit in some exercise around the crazy, busy life that comes with having kids. Grab the pack and when you have a few minutes, turn one or two over and get on with it!

Here's to working off all those Christmas excesses!
I hope you've enjoyed reading my suggestions for pressies this Christmas. I've recommended some really great small businesses, and I hope that this Christmas you'll also try and do some of your Christmas shopping with small businesses like Mini Maison.
Have a good one!
